How the money works

A promise between people. The book just keeps the tally.

Most group-gift sites want to hold the cash. We don't touch it. You say what you're in for, the organiser buys the present, and you pay them back the way your family always has. No fees, no float, nothing to withdraw.

Nothing moves here

“Put me down for £10 — you'll pay Paula back after.” Every money button says who you owe, so nobody thinks they've paid when they haven't, and nobody is asked twice.

Taken means taken

Claim a present and everyone else sees it greyed out with your name on it. “Paula knows. Nobody else will buy the Wisden now.” Two people cannot turn up with the same thing.

It says when it's too late

“Order by Tuesday and it arrives Friday.” If a shop can't make the day, the book says so before anyone buys, never after. Deadlines are weekdays, not day counts.
